Accountability is the essential step for ensuring the key functions

managing the business and ensuring deviations from benchmarks are
identified early and remedial action taken.
A process must be in place to ensure decision making is undertaken
in a structured and professional manner. Too often
decision making is ad hoc and based on insufficient or inaccurate
information.
